Royal Canin vs. Our Brands
We recommend any food in our store over Royal Canin.
We're just going to say it: Royal Canin is the most over-priced pet food in America. Its first ingredient is rice, and its second ingredient is chicken by-product, the two cheapest ways to make dog food and their price is over $100 per bag! The French are enormously proud of their rice-based pet foods! Dogs need real meat, not rice and by-products.
Most National Brands, like Royal Canin, use fillers, such as Wheat & Corn Gluten Meal to add calories. These fillers are some of the main causes of allergens in dogs and provide little nutrition to our pups. Royal Canin's first ingredient is Brown Rice, while all of our formulas start with animal protein. Major brands are not required to disclose what is in Chicken By-Product, and most of the time it is what is leftover after all the good stuff has been used.
